Passport Services Are Changing the Rules for Making Appointments to Apply for a Foreign Passport
Starting June 22, 2026, Passport Service centers will begin a pilot program requiring users to verify their identity when reserving a spot in the electronic queue.
From now on, citizens must verify their identity through the National Bank of Ukraine’s BankID system to receive a queue ticket.
This new measure aims to completely eliminate the resale of spots in queues and make access to administrative services as transparent and fair as possible.
The state-owned enterprise “Document,” which operates under the State Migration Service of Ukraine, has officially announced changes to the registration rules.
Citizens will be verified directly during the online registration process on the agency’s official platform.
“Using the National Bank of Ukraine’s BankID system,” representatives of the agency’s press service clearly stated while informing Ukrainians about the launch of the new technical solution.
The NBU’s BankID system is a modern, reliable, and secure tool for remote identification of individuals through Ukrainian financial institutions where they have accounts.
It ensures a high level of personal data protection and allows users to be verified in a matter of seconds.
“It allows for quick and reliable identity verification for remote access to government and administrative services online,” emphasized experts from the state-owned enterprise “Document.”
The introduction of mandatory verification is a logical step within the company’s large-scale strategy to improve the quality of public services and advance the digitization of services.
Thanks to the full personalization of each ticket, third parties will no longer be able to mass-book seats for subsequent illegal resale.
This new approach completely eliminates any speculation or abuse involving appointment slips, which previously caused significant inconvenience for citizens.
