In Rivne, a girl was accidentally locked inside a mail kiosk; rescue workers were called to help

In Rivne, rescue workers helped a young woman who had become trapped inside a mail locker. Her boyfriend, who was unable to open the locker on his own, called for help.

According to the regional State Emergency Service, specialists arrived at the scene and freed the young woman from the locked mail locker. The circumstances under which she became trapped inside are currently being investigated.

When asked by journalists why they used a special tool to open the mailbox compartment instead of using the Nova Poshta app, Maksym Starenkyi, a spokesperson for the State Emergency Service in Rivne Oblast, explained that when a call comes in to the 101 hotline reporting that a person is trapped in a locked metal space, rescuers follow strict safety protocols.

“That is why the State Emergency Service personnel used a special tool. In such situations, saving a person’s life and health, as well as acting quickly, are always the top priorities,” he explained.

Maksym Starenkyi also noted that the girl who was rescued is 15 years old. He did not explain exactly how she ended up inside the mail locker.

According to a reporton the Rivne Region Rescue Service’s website, on July 7 at 6:00 a.m., rescuers received a call from a young man. He reported that a girl was locked inside a post office box on Kyivska Street.

“He was unable to open the compartment on his own, so he called the rescue team for help. Using a special tool, State Emergency Service personnel quickly opened the compartment and freed the girl,” the post stated.

The girl did not require medical attention, the Rescue Service added.
