An unexploded shell was found in Romania near the Ukrainian border

An unexploded unguided rocket was discovered on the grounds of an unoccupied private property in the Romanian village of Pardina, Tulcea County. The authorities were notified of the dangerous find at approximately 3:00 p.m., after which the danger zone was promptly cordoned off.

This was reported by the website of the Romanian Ministry of National Defense.

Police officers, border guards, and representatives of Romania’s national intelligence agency were deployed to neutralize the threat and carry out initial response measures at the scene.

A technical inspection of the munition conducted by specialists confirmed the high level of danger posed by the discovered object, as its casing contained two kilograms of explosive material. The incident occurred amid regular airstrikes carried out by Russia against Ukraine, as a result of which border regions of neighboring countries periodically record the fall of debris from munitions or unexploded shells on their territory.

During the Russian strike on the Odesa region on April 25, Russian drones were moving along the border with Romania. British aircraft patrolling Romanian airspace tracked their routes. Later, drone debris was found in border areas of Romania.

The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Russian ambassador over the incident involving a drone crash near the city of Galați.
