A balcony collapsed at a school in Sevastopol; three children are in critical condition

In the temporarily occupied city of Sevastopol, a second-floor balcony collapsed at a school, injuring nine children.

The city’s “governor,” Mikhail Razvozhayev, reported the incident.

“Today, a balcony on the second floor collapsed at School No. 13… All necessary emergency services are on the scene,” he said.

According to him, six boys and three girls aged 17—school graduates—were injured. Preliminary reports indicate that the children went out onto the balcony to take a photo.

“Three students are in critical condition, while the others are in moderate condition. All the students are in the hospital, and doctors are providing them with all necessary medical care,” Razvozhayev added.

The causes of the collapse are currently being investigated. Emergency services have arrived at the scene, and the “prosecutor of the Nakhimov District” has also joined the investigation. The situation is being monitored by the Investigative Committee.

According to local Telegram channels, School No. 13 underwent major renovations a year ago. It is reported that the teenagers were taking photos on the balcony, including while jumping.

Later, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case regarding the injuries sustained by the students. The agency noted that the school building was put into operation following major renovations in 2025.

As a reminder, in the temporarily occupied Crimea, drone flights and a series of powerful explosions were recorded on the night of May 13; there were also reports of a temporary closure of traffic across the Kerch Bridge.
