There are currently not enough votes in the Verkhovna Rada to appoint Klymenko as defense minister — media reports

As of 9:30 a.m. on July 16, a large number of members of parliament are not ready to vote in favor of appointing Ihor Klymenko as defense minister.

Journalist Yevhen Plinsky wrote about this on his Facebook page.

“And the issue here isn’t him. The lawmakers have no complaints about Klymenko. It’s just that the MPs aren’t ready to go against public opinion, which has erupted in support of Mykhailo Fedorov. They fully understand that the media outcry calling for Fedorov to remain in office is entirely genuine and expected. The reasons for his resignation are too clear to everyone to remain silent. That is precisely why hundreds of veterans, military personnel, media representatives, and concerned citizens took to the ‘cardboard Maidan’ today,” the journalist noted.

As a reminder, a protest is taking place in Kyiv against the removal of Mykhailo Fedorov from his post as Ukraine’s defense minister, along with the entire government. More than a thousand people have gathered on the square next to the Ivan Franko Theater, not far from the Office of the President of Ukraine.

Deputy Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force Pavlo Yelizarov announced that he had submitted his resignation.

Mykhailo Fedorov, summarizing his work as defense minister, reported that a successful test of a Ukrainian ballistic missile took place on July 14.

Following his decision to resign, Mykhailo Fedorov published his first statement, in which he summarized his work and identified the tasks that had not been fully accomplished.
