In Vinnytsia, passengers attacked a female tram driver while she was on duty

In Vinnytsia, a man and a woman assaulted a female tram driver while she was on duty. The incident occurred on May 28 at around 10:00 p.m. at the “Devyaty Mikrorayon” stop as passengers were getting off. Medical personnel provided the necessary assistance to the injured employee of the Vinnytsia Transport Company.

This was reported with reference to the Vinnytsia Transport Company.

“According to preliminary information, a man and a woman began to physically assault the driver following an incident related to the operation of the tram’s automatic door system. In trams of this type, the doors operate automatically: passengers open them using buttons located both outside and inside the cabin. When closing, the retractable step first rises, after which the doors close. The driver does not control these processes manually and cannot operate the step separately,” the statement reads.

Medical personnel provided assistance to the employee of the Vinnytsia Transport Company: she suffered abrasions and bruises on her face, a chest contusion, and a sharp rise in blood pressure. She refused hospitalization.

“Due to this incident, tram service was suspended for approximately an hour and a half. Specialists from the Vinnytsia Transport Company inspected the door mechanisms and the car’s locking system. The equipment is in working order,” the statement added.

The police are investigating all the circumstances of the incident.

“The Vinnytsia Transport Company will assist in the investigation and insist on the legal punishment of those who committed the assault. Violence against a person in the workplace is unacceptable. We urge passengers to treat each other with respect, use automated public transportation systems carefully, and contact the police, medical personnel, or relevant services in case of conflict or dangerous situations,” the company emphasized.
