In Zaporizhzhia, a doctor and a pharmacist set up a scheme to sell unregistered drugs
In Zaporizhzhia, law enforcement officials uncovered a scheme involving the illegal sale of unregistered medications, including drugs for cancer patients.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
According to the investigation, the head of a department at one of the city’s hospitals recommended specific medications to patients and directed them to a specific pharmacy manager. For such “recommendations,” she likely received illicit benefits on a regular basis.
The pharmacy manager, in turn, sold medicines not registered in Ukraine.
Law enforcement officials are also investigating the possible involvement of businesspeople from Chernivtsi. According to preliminary data, they may have organized the import of drugs from abroad outside of customs control, after which the medications were sent by mail to Zaporizhzhia.
During the searches, documents, equipment, cash (16,000 UAH and 4,200 USD), as well as over 90 unregistered medications were seized.
The department head and the pharmacy manager have been notified of the charges against them. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
