Construction materials have risen in price by up to 50% and will continue to rise
The cost of constructing new buildings in Ukraine rose significantly in 2026. Since the beginning of the year, prices for building materials have increased by 30–50 percent, depending on the category, and by the end of the year they may rise another 10–20 percent.
According to the State Statistics Service, in the second quarter, apartment prices in the primary market rose by 20.5% year-over-year. The cost of construction work increased by 23.1% over the year, while industrial products rose by 39.1%.
According to Artem Gordiychuk, a representative of Standard One, concrete, mortar, bricks, rebar, and cables have seen the sharpest price increases. At the same time, higher logistics costs are driving up the price of even those materials whose prices have not changed directly.
At PBG “Kovalska,” the company cites higher costs for fuel, cement, sand, and crushed stone, as well as increased labor costs and higher freight rates charged by “Ukrzaliznytsia,” among the reasons for the rise in production costs.
The war remains an additional factor. Following Russia’s recent strike on ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, the company was forced to partially halt production. High electricity costs for industry may also affect the production cost of Ukrainian rebar.
According to Standard One’s forecast, construction materials and engineering equipment could rise in price by another 10–20% by the end of 2026.

In Kyiv’s Svyatoshynskyi district, a fire broke out in an open area near private residential buildings. Emergency services are already on their way to the scene, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported.
In Kyiv and several regions, an air raid alert was issued on the evening of September 1 at 6:24 p.m. due to the threat of Russian UAVs. The Ukrainian Air Force urged citizens to immediately seek shelter or follow the “two-wall rule” if safe premises are not accessible.
