Ukraine will not join the EU until 2027 — Marta Kos

Marta Kos, the European Commissioner for Enlargement, stated that Ukraine will not be able to join the EU before 2027. 

She made this remark at the “Competitive Europe” summit, according to Politico.

According to her, Ukraine’s accession in the coming year is unrealistic. She emphasized that two key conditions must be met first: achieving peace and implementing reforms.

Koss also noted that investors will come to Ukraine only if there is security and the potential for profit.

At the same time, she emphasized that Ukraine is already an important partner of the European Union in the fields of innovation, defense, and other strategic sectors that strengthen the bloc’s global competitiveness.

As a reminder, the European Commission has named another condition for Ukraine’s accession to the EU.

Von der Leyen also assured that Ukraine will receive a loan from the EU.
