Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gar Støre. The two leaders discussed strengthening air defense, assistance to Ukraine’s energy sector, and gas procurement ahead of winter.
According to the president, Norway is already providing Ukraine with significant support in the areas of air defense and energy. During the meeting, the parties discussed how to continue this assistance and strengthen the protection of Ukraine’s airspace. “Norway is providing us with substantial assistance in air defense and the energy sector, and it is now very important that this support continues. We had a substantive discussion with Jonas about decisions that will help strengthen the defense of our airspace and Norway’s participation in gas procurement so that our cities and communities are ready for winter,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.
The President thanked Norway for the defense and financial assistance the country has provided to Ukraine since the start of the full-scale war. Separately, during the talks, the parties discussed cooperation in the field of defense production, support for Ukrainian military technologies, and work on the Drone Deal initiative.
This involves developing joint projects in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles and strengthening the capabilities of the Ukrainian defense industry. “We agreed that our teams will actively work on implementing all the agreements,” Zelenskyy said.
Ukraine is counting on Norway’s continued support in preparing for the winter, particularly regarding energy security and the protection of critical infrastructure. Zelenskyy announced this on Telegram.
