Ukraine plans to begin training pilots on the Gripen this year — Zelenskyy
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine plans to begin training pilots on Gripen fighter jets this year. According to him, he will discuss this matter with King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, specifically regarding the launch of training for Ukrainian pilots in the very near future.
The head of state announced this during joint press statements with the Swedish monarch in Lviv.
"We are also grateful for the new program to strengthen the defense of our airspace, regarding our future modern air fleet of Swedish-made aircraft, the Gripen. We very much hope—and we will discuss this today with His Majesty—that our pilots will begin training this year," said the head of state.
He thanked Sweden for its assistance and Her Majesty Queen Silvia for her support of humanitarian programs.
"Our programs are important, such as Bring Kids Back UA—bringing our Ukrainian children home. And Her Majesty Queen Silvia is helping with this. She is in constant contact with the First Lady of Ukraine. We are also grateful for the support of the school meal program for our children in Ukraine," said Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy announced news regarding missiles for the Patriot system following a conversation with the NATO Secretary General.
Prior to this, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Bulgarian partners for this decision and noted that it will help Ukraine strengthen its air defense system ahead of the upcoming heating season.
South Korean authorities are analyzing additional options for supporting Ukraine amid the ongoing war with Russia. Specifically, this involves possible participation in an international initiative related to the supply of equipment and other aid.
