Ukraine plans to open all negotiation chapters on EU accession in June
Ukraine expects all six negotiation chapters on European Union membership to be officially opened by the end of the first half of 2026.
This was stated by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga during an online conference upon his return from a NATO ministerial meeting.
The head of the foreign ministry emphasized that this goal is entirely achievable and justified given the commitments the country has fulfilled.
The diplomat made the statement following the conclusion of official talks with his new Hungarian counterpart, Anita Orbán.
According to the official, Kyiv has fulfilled absolutely all the conditions set by European partners for moving to the next stage of integration.
Sibiga is convinced that the European community must demonstrate reciprocity and objectively assess the large-scale reforms implemented by the Ukrainian side.
The main positive outcome of the meeting was the resolution of previous political disputes between the neighboring countries, which had long blocked this process.
“We are proceeding on the assumption that the clusters will be opened in June. The main political obstacle from the Orbán government has been removed,” the foreign minister emphasized, commenting on the current state of the dialogue with Budapest.
This decision paves the way for intensifying further diplomatic efforts.
Sibiga mentioned a turning point in the war with Russia
As a reminder, Ukraine and Hungary have agreedon a new round of negotiations.
Earlier, the Hungarian government commented on the massive attack by Russian drones on Zakarpattia, during which the region’s critical infrastructure was targeted. Budapest described the situation in the border region as extremely alarming and announced that it was preparing urgent countermeasures.
