Ukraine has become the leading supplier of kefir to the EU

Ukraine has become the leading supplier of kefir to the EU

In recent years, Ukraine has emerged as a major exporter of kefir to European Union countries. As noted by Taras Kachka, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, the volumes of exports are relatively small, but this achievement demonstrates the flexibility and ability of Ukrainian businesses to quickly adapt to market conditions.

The information was reported by Liga.net.

Furthermore, this proves that businesses are capable of meeting the EU’s strictest requirements and successfully competing in its internal market.

"When the Association Agreement came into effect, dairy producers said: we don’t really need this. But now, when we were reviewing quotas last year, [they said:] we want more butter, and more powdered milk. Fresh dairy products are the most difficult to export. We don’t export that much kefir, but Ukraine is the main exporter of kefir to the European Union. It might sound a bit funny, but it shows that even with such demanding, perishable goods that have to hit supermarket shelves immediately, we’re capable of operating there,” Kachka said.

He noted that companies that had never looked toward the European market, due to disrupted logistics caused by the full-scale war, have reassessed their strategies and now realize: “The European Union is a blessing,” and are ready to meet the EU’s strictest requirements.

In March, it was reported that the Ukrainian Dairy Company (UMK) would begin construction this year on the first phase of the world’s largest robotic farm for group milking. The first 24 milking robots out of the planned 60 are expected to be put into operation.

Kazakhstan is rerouting oil exports due to the shutdown of the Druzhba pipeline.

Kazakhstan’s Minister of Energy, Yerlan Akkenzhenov, confirmed that the transit of Kazakhstani oil to Germany via Russia has been temporarily suspended.

Ukraine has resumed oil transit via the Druzhba pipeline.
