Ukraine is negotiating with its neighbors regarding grain exports
Ukraine is actively negotiating with its neighboring countries regarding the development of the “EU-Ukraine Solidarity Lanes,” which provide alternative routes for the export of Ukrainian grain and other products. Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga announced this during a press conference in Kyiv on August 5.
According to the foreign minister, consultations are ongoing with Moldova, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, and Poland. The parties are discussing opportunities to expand infrastructure and create the necessary conditions for transporting Ukrainian grain to third-country markets.
Sibiga recalled that the “Solidarity Lanes” were established by the European Commission in May 2022 as alternative logistics routes following the blockade of Ukrainian seaports. They facilitate the transport of goods by rail, road, and inland waterways.
For her part, Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže stated that her country is ready to make its ports available and to facilitate the transit of Ukrainian products by road, rail, or other means of transport to the greatest extent possible.
At the same time, she emphasized the importance of a clear and resolute stance by the international community in support of Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the government is updating its plan to protect grain exports. At the same time, the government is working to diversify export and import operations and identify additional logistics solutions.
