Ukrainian military and expert teams in the Middle East are focusing on countering drones and strengthening airspace defense.
This was reported by Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.
According to him, over the past week he visited the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Jordan, where he held talks with government leaders and relevant agencies. Ukrainian military experts are also working in these countries.
The work is focused on two key areas. The first is the implementation of Ukrainian technologies to counter aerial threats, particularly drone attacks.
The second is consultations with partners on assessing the security situation and developing practical solutions for air defense, drawing on Ukrainian experience.
Ukrainian specialists also assessed the protection of critical infrastructure and provided recommendations on improving the effectiveness of air defense systems.
According to Umerov, interception units have already been deployed in the region to protect civilian and critical facilities, and work is ongoing to expand coverage areas.
Separately, the parties discussed the further development of long-term cooperation in the security sector.
Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, arrived in the United Arab Emirates on March 11, 2026, as part of a broader visit to the Middle East.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that eleven countries, including Iran’s neighbors, European states, and the United States, have turned to Ukraine for assistance in countering “suicide bombers.”
