Ukrainian military medics successfully operated on a soldier who sustained a gunshot wound during a combat mission. What made this case unique was that the bullet kept shifting position within his body due to the formation of a hematoma.
The Medical Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the soldier was wounded in the left thigh during close combat. At first, he did not realize he was wounded and, together with his comrades, continued to carry out the mission and captured a Russian position. It was only later that the soldier felt pain and noticed signs of the injury.
After hospitalization, an X-ray revealed that the bullet remained in his body. Due to its constant movement, the surgery was particularly challenging, as there was a risk of damaging major blood vessels.
The surgeons carefully prepared for the procedure and used a special magnetic instrument that helped them pinpoint the bullet’s exact location and safely remove it.
The Medical Forces Command noted that such cases are extremely rare and dangerous, as under certain conditions, a bullet or shrapnel can enter the venous system and migrate to the heart, posing a life-threatening risk.

In Ukraine, 115,000 citizens have already undergone free health screenings as part of a government program designed to detect risks of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and other health issues in their early stages. The government emphasizes that the program serves as a preventive measure and enables people to take care of their health in a timely manner.
