A Ukrainian brand has created a unique helmet that helps animals stay calm during explosions
The Ukrainian brand Hat-Dog has unveiled a unique product for pets—a special soundproof helmet.
This innovative product is designed to help pets cope more easily with explosions, sirens, and the sounds of air defense systems.
Thanks to its special design, this accessory effectively minimizes the negative impact of loud noises that have become part of everyday life in wartime.
The full-scale Russian invasion has caused severe stress not only among people but also among animals. During air raid alerts, many dogs trigger a natural “fight-or-flight” response, accompanied by trembling and panic.
This new domestic innovation is designed to address this problem and provide animals with psychological comfort. Some dogs relax so much in the helmet that they can fall asleep peacefully even during a real threat and loud explosions.
The product’s effectiveness is based on a combination of mechanical sound insulation and physiological effects on the animal’s body. Special materials absorb the sharpest sound vibrations, which frighten pets the most.
The designers ensured that the helmet performs not only an insulating but also a calming function thanks to gentle pressure on specific areas of the head.
The manufacturers have described the mechanism of action of their innovative design in detail.
“The helmet fits snugly but gently against the head. There are foam inserts in the ear area that block out sound. The design creates even pressure across the head—this is the principle of deep pressure stimulation, which lowers cortisol levels and triggers the release of oxytocin. Simply put, the dog feels the same thing a person feels during a tight hug,” explained the experts at Hat-Dog.
An important factor in the animal’s successful adaptation to the new helmet is the calm demeanor of its owner. Dogs instantly pick up on their owners’ emotional state, so it is recommended to put on the accessory confidently and without unnecessary fuss.
For maximum convenience, the brand has created a wide size range from XXS to XXL, allowing you to find protection for any breed, and the smallest sizes are even suitable for cats.
Prolonged exposure to a state of fear can trigger serious physical and mental health issues in pets.
Experts urge owners to prepare “emergency kits” for their pets in advance, which must include water, food, and items familiar to the pet.
Veterinarians also recommend speaking to dogs more often in a gentle voice and offering them treats during times of danger.
This was reported by Hat-Dog experts in a comment to Channel 24.
