Ukrainians were warned about possible attacks by Russia on Independence Day
On the eve of Ukraine’s Independence Day, citizens are urged to be especially vigilant due to possible provocations by Russia. On August 24, the enemy may resort to shelling, sabotage, terrorist attacks, cyberattacks, and other criminal acts, particularly by targeting venues hosting mass gatherings.
The SBU urges Ukrainians to remain vigilant and take their personal safety seriously.
Before and during the holiday celebrations, it is important to follow a few basic rules:
Do not ignore air raid sirens, and identify the nearest shelter in advance;
do not approach suspicious objects and do not attempt to move or inspect them on your own;
if you notice suspicious individuals, objects, or other signs of possible illegal activity, report them to law enforcement;
Do not post photos or videos that reveal the locations of military personnel, critical infrastructure, checkpoints, air defense systems, etc.;
Do not share information about the consequences of shelling, air defense operations, or the movements of Ukrainian military personnel;
Do not comply with requests from unknown individuals (even if they claim to be law enforcement officers) who ask you to carry out questionable tasks, such as taking photos or videos of certain objects, delivering a package, or leaving an item at a specified location.
Separately, the SBU draws citizens’ attention to attempts by Russian special services to recruit Ukrainians to prepare terrorist attacks and carry out acts of sabotage.
“If unknown individuals offer money for arson, property damage, installing unknown objects, gathering information about military facilities, or other illegal actions—do not agree to such proposals and immediately report them to the SBU,” the Security Service urged.
This was reported with reference to the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine.
Earlier, a female officer of the General Staff was detained for accepting a bribe of 14,000 dollars.
In the Chernihiv region, a detained deserter attempted to offer a bribe of 40,000 hryvnias.
The SBU and the National Police have uncovered 12 schemes to evade mobilization in eight regions.
