Ukraine will experience a severe heat wave with temperatures reaching 37° and brief thunderstorms
On Friday, August 21, most regions of Ukraine will experience a heat wave with temperatures reaching 35–37°, while temperatures in the southeast are expected to reach 34°. In Kyiv, temperatures will reach 35°, and in the northern regions, brief showers and thunderstorms are possible in some areas.
Hot, dry weather prevails again across Ukraine—only in the northern part are brief showers and thunderstorms possible in some areas during the day. The wind will be from the southwest at 7–12 m/s—warm and humid, which will only intensify the feeling of stifling heat. Nighttime temperatures will range from 15–20°; daytime temperatures in the southeastern part of the country will be 30–34°, while the rest of the country will experience extreme heat of 35–37°.
From August 21–23, Ukraine—with the exception of the Volyn, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Zakarpattia regions—will experience an extreme fire danger level.

No precipitation is expected at night; during the day, the Kyiv region will see brief showers and thunderstorms in some areas—though these are unlikely to significantly cool the scorching air. The wind will be southwesterly, 7–12 m/s. Temperatures in the Kyiv region will range from 15–20° at night to a severe heat of 35–37° during the day; in Kyiv, it will be 18–20° at night and a scorching 35° during the day.

According to data from the Boris Sreznevsky Central Geophysical Observatory, the average monthly air temperature in Kyiv in July was 20.8°C, which is 0.5°C below the climatological norm.
