An abnormal heat wave has swept across Ukraine, with temperature records being broken in various regions
The abnormal heat wave in Ukraine continues to set new temperature records. On August 6, daytime temperatures in several regions exceeded the previous all-time highs for that day.
In some regions, temperatures were more than 4 degrees higher than previously recorded record highs.
According to data from meteorological stations, on August 6, previous temperature records were exceeded by 0.7–4.3°C. Among the cities shown on the map from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, the highest temperature was recorded in Kyiv and Rivne—+39.0°C.
Temperature records on August 6 were recorded in:
- Kyiv – +39.0°C;
- Rivne – +39.0°C;
- Mykolaiv – +38.8°C;
- Lutsk – +38.6°C;
- Uzhhorod – +38.4°C;
- Zhytomyr – +38.3°C;
- Chernihiv – +38.2°C;
- Ternopil – +37.8°C;
- Ivano-Frankivsk – +37.8°C;
- Vinnytsia – +37.6°C;
- Khmelnytskyi – +35.7°C;
- Lviv – +37.3°C;
- Chernivtsi – +37.3°C.
This new wave of record-breaking temperatures is a continuation of the abnormally hot spell that began in Ukraine in early August. Record highs were recorded in various parts of the country for several days in a row.
