Ukrenergo Reveals the Impact of Severe Weather on the Power Grid
Due to severe weather conditions, including thunderstorms and squalls, as of the morning of June 30, approximately 600 communities in eight regions of Ukraine were left with no or limited electricity.
Consumers in the Kyiv, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Volyn, Lviv, Cherkasy, Ternopil, and Khmelnytskyi regions were hardest hit by the severe weather.
In each of the affected regions, emergency crews from regional power companies have already begun work to restore damaged power lines.
Power company workers are doing their utmost to restore power to people’s homes as quickly as possible, despite the significant damage to the power grids.
In addition to the effects of the severe weather, the country’s power grid continues to operate under conditions of power shortages.
Ukrenergo has warned that today, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., electricity consumption restrictions will be enforced in all regions of Ukraine.
The transmission system operator is urging industrial consumers and businesses to consider importing electricity in amounts exceeding 60% of their own consumption.
“This will protect you from hourly power outages and, at the same time, significantly help the power grid,” the company emphasized.
This was reported by “Ukrenergo.”
