The government has allocated more than 2 billion hryvnias for shelters in educational institutions
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated over 2 billion hryvnias in subsidies to improve safety conditions in schools across 30 communities.
As Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced on March 19, funding priority is given to schools in communities with very high risk levels, as well as military lyceums. The total budget for shelters in general secondary education institutions for this year is 5 billion hryvnias.
In addition to safety issues, the government is actively investing in modernizing education and energy independence:
The “100 Workshops” project: 1 billion UAH has been allocated to renovate laboratories and classrooms in vocational and pre-higher education institutions.
Energy efficiency: By the end of the year, 500 educational institutions, including vocational schools, will be equipped with alternative power sources as part of resilience plans.
NUS Reform: A systematic transition to a modern education model integrated into the European space is underway, which is intended to serve as the foundation for training personnel to rebuild the country.
During a meeting with Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi, the Prime Minister emphasized that creating a safe educational environment is a key factor in bringing Ukrainians home and ensuring the country’s stable development amid the conflict with Russia. Infrastructure modernization will be combined with the implementation of new educational standards that address the current challenges of wartime.
