The government has allocated more than ₴420 million for the modernization of school cafeterias
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the second allocation of state subsidies for the renovation of school cafeterias. In total, communities in 15 regions will receive 421.1 million hryvnias to modernize the food service system in educational institutions.
This was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
According to the government’s decision, the funding will be directed toward the purchase of modern equipment, as well as the creation and renovation of 25 school cafeterias.
“Meals in educational institutions must be safe and of high quality. This fosters a culture of healthy eating and is an investment in children’s futures,” Svyrydenko emphasized.
The government emphasizes that the school meal reform is being implemented in cooperation with local communities and aims to improve the quality of services in schools.
According to official data, approximately 20% of school cafeterias in Ukraine have already been modernized. Of these, 188 were renovated using state subsidies, and over 1,500 were renovated thanks to local budget funds and support from international partners.
As a reminder, the Cabinet of Ministers submitted a bill to the Verkhovna Rada that would exempt payments under the “eSadok” program from taxation.
The Cabinet of Ministers has extended the current electricity tariff for households. The rate of 4.32 UAH per kWh will remain unchanged until October 31, 2026.
