A schoolgirl from Ternopil was taken into custody for assaulting a classmate

A court has ordered a ninth-grader from Ternopil to serve two months of house arrest, with mandatory electronic monitoring, as a preventive measure following a knife attack.

This was reported by 20 Minutes, noting that the court hearing was held behind closed doors. Along with the 15-year-old girl, her mother, acting as her legal representative, and a psychologist were present at the hearing.

Law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the possibility of bullying at the school where the incident occurred. The head of the regional prosecutor’s office, Vitaliy Panchenko, confirmed that the investigation is examining relationships within the school community to determine the causes of the child’s aggressive behavior. The situation is under the supervision of juvenile prosecutors.

The legal assessment of the student’s actions will depend on the results of expert examinations and the clarification of all circumstances of the incident. Since the detainee is a minor, the judicial process and investigative actions are being conducted in accordance with special legal provisions. The girl’s fate will be determined by the court after the completion of the pre-trial investigation.

According to the investigation, on April 27, a 15-year-old student at a school in Ternopil was waiting for a classmate in the entrance of her building. When the victim approached, the girl stabbed her several times. During one of the stabs, a fragment of the blade remained lodged in the victim’s head. The victim was hospitalized; her life is no longer in danger. Law enforcement officers detained the suspected attacker. The motives behind the teenager’s actions are being determined. One of the theories being investigated is possible bullying by the victim and other classmates.

According to regional authorities, the student who carried out a shooting at a school in Zakarpattia may have been recruited by Russian intelligence agencies through online games.

In Zakarpattia, police are trying to locate the parents of the ninth-grader who opened fire at a school and wounded another student. According to law enforcement, the teenager is currently refusing to communicate with psychologists.
