The EU has reported isolated cases of Ukrainians of draft age returning home
Ruslan Gorbenko, a member of parliament from the “Servant of the People” faction, spoke of alleged isolated cases of Ukrainian men of draft age being forcibly returned from European Union countries.
He made these remarks during an appearance on the “Superposition” program.
According to the MP, upon their return, these citizens may be transferred to territorial recruitment and social support centers. At the same time, he emphasized that this is not a widespread practice.
“The tools exist. But to deport all men, grounds are needed—it must be an enacted law or a government decision, for example, in Germany,” Gorbenko noted.
He emphasized that such cases are primarily related to violations of the law in the host countries, rather than systematic decisions regarding Ukrainian citizens abroad.
The deputy also noted that without coordinated intergovernmental decisions, such mechanisms remain limited in effectiveness, as citizens can move freely between EU countries.
As a reminder, in Ukraine, courts are actively fining employees of Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centers (TRSCs) for negligent performance of their duties during a state of emergency. The most common violation is failing to record their work on camera. This carries fines ranging from 17,000 to 34,000 UAH. In rare cases, the punishment is limited to a verbal warning.
