A drug dealer who hid cocaine in snack packages was convicted in Odessa
In Odesa, a court sentenced a 42-year-old man who was found guilty of drug trafficking. To conceal his activities, he hid cocaine in empty corn chip bags and used his 10-year-old daughter’s backpack to transport the illegal substances.
The court found the man guilty of the illegal acquisition, possession, and transportation of drugs for the purpose of distribution on an especially large scale (Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and sentenced him to 9 years in prison with the confiscation of all his property.
The investigation established that in September 2023, the defendant called a taxi driver he knew—who was unaware of his intentions—and, together with his daughter, drove to one of Odesa’s bars. Near the bar, the man left his child in the car with a backpack containing hidden cocaine, while he went to meet a potential buyer. Upon returning to the car, he was detained by law enforcement officers.
During a search of the car, more than half a kilogram of cocaine was seized, and at the defendant’s residence, another 500 grams of the narcotic substance were found. Law enforcement officers also found electronic scales and other items used for packaging drugs.
The man’s guilt was fully confirmed by forensic findings, physical evidence, CCTV footage, and witness testimony, according to the Office of the Prosecutor General.
