In Ukraine, owners who leave their dogs in cars during hot weather will be fined

In Ukraine, leaving pets in a locked car during extreme heat or cold is subject to administrative penalties.

This was reported by the SYG.

Specifically, leaving animals unattended in a car when the air temperature exceeds +20°C or falls below +5°C is considered animal cruelty.

Violators face a fine ranging from 3,400 to 5,100 UAH. In the event of a repeat offense, if committed by a group of individuals, or involving multiple animals, the fine increases to 8,500 UAH. Additionally, the court may impose administrative detention for up to 15 days.

Furthermore, in cases where the animal’s life or health is in danger, it may be seized from the owner.

The law also provides for criminal liability for cruelty to animals if it results in injury or death. In such cases, the punishment may include imprisonment.

Cruel treatment includes beating, poisoning, maiming animals, leaving them unattended, keeping them tied up without shelter during heat or cold, as well as other actions that cause physical suffering.

As a reminder, German police have identified a 65-year-old man and launched an investigation into a series of incidents involving the injury and death of pigeons in the city of Freiburg.

In Odesa, law enforcement officials have opened a criminal case regarding the mistreatment of domestic animals.

In Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, during the “Horses of Boikivshchyna” festival, which took place on January 24–25 in the village of Porohy, cases of cruelty to horses were documented.
