More than 4.4 million square meters of roads have been repaired in Ukraine since the beginning of the year, according to Kuleba
As of January 1, 2026, more than 4.4 million square meters of road surface have already been repaired in Ukraine, which accounts for nearly 50% of the planned volume for the first five months.
This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister for Recovery and Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba on Telegram.
According to him, roadwork this year began earlier than ever before, and the pace has gradually increased.
“Since the beginning of the year, over 4.4 million square meters of road surface have already been repaired. This is nearly half of the planned volume on state-level roads, which is scheduled to be completed by June 1. This year, work began earlier than ever and has gradually picked up pace—from 4,000–5,000 square meters per day in winter to nearly 200,000 square meters daily now,” Kuleba noted.
Currently, about 200 repair crews and 1,900 workers are working on state highways. The number of crews has been increased to accelerate infrastructure restoration.
Repair work is ongoing on key highways across the country, including the following routes:
M-03 Kyiv–Kharkiv–Dovzhansky,
M-05 Kyiv–Odesa,
M-06 Kyiv–Chop,
M-11 Lviv–Shehyni,
M-19 Domaneve–Kovel–Chernivtsi–Terebleche,
M-21 Vystupovychi–Zhytomyr–Mogyliv-Podilskyi, and others.
In total, in 2026, it is planned to repair approximately 10 million square meters of road surface on national highways.
As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law ratifying a financial agreement between Ukraine and the European Investment Bank for €134 million, which will be allocated to the restoration and development of road infrastructure.
The State Special Transport Service (SSTS) has become the sole contractor for road repair and maintenance works in the combat zone.
