Ukraine has selected operators for 65 intercity bus routes

Following the results of the tender for interregional bus routes, 47 carriers were granted the right to provide passenger transportation services on 65 routes across Ukraine. These include popular routes such as Kyiv–Odesa, Kyiv–Kharkiv, Kyiv–Vinnytsia, Kyiv–Ternopil, Kyiv–Khmelnytskyi, Lviv–Odesa, and others.

In total, 200 interregional routes from various regions of the country were put up for the tender.

Carriers submitted 119 bids, and the winners were selected based on the results of their review.

Serhiy Derkach, Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development, emphasized:

“We are continuing the reform of interregional bus transportation and establishing transparent rules for market access. Thanks to the digitization of competitive procedures, carriers can submit documents online, and the state can promptly ensure the selection of carriers for routes that are important for people’s mobility.”

Among the routes that have also received new carriers are are Lutsk–Lviv, Mykolaiv–Odesa, Voznesensk–Odesa, Izmail–Kyiv, Boryspil–Kyiv–Lviv, Boryspil–Kyiv–Odesa, and Boryspil–Kyiv–Uzhhorod.

The winners of the competition will be able to operate the routes in accordance with the requirements of the law and the terms of the competition.

The ministry noted that this year saw the largest-scale competition for interregional bus transportation conducted under a new digital procedure. Documents were submitted through the carrier’s online account in the Unified Complex of Information Systems for Land Transport Safety.

One of the main requirements for participation was the availability of a properly executed report on mandatory technical inspections of vehicles, which is an important condition for improving passenger transport safety.

The digitization of the bus transportation sector is also ongoing. Through the “Ukrtransbezpeka” system, carriers can submit electronic applications to change routes, adjust schedules, update stops, or terminate permits.

Since the launch of this service, the ministry has already approved 47 electronic applications.

In addition, since the launch of the new electronic tender system, winners have already been selected for a significant number of routes. Currently, 112 carriers operate 155 interregional bus routes throughout Ukraine.

This was reported by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine.

Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a decision to simplify technical inspections for international carriers.
