An accountant who handles the books for 28 companies at once has been found in Ukraine
Analysts examined more than 75,000 Ukrainian companies and determined how many companies a single accountant typically serves. Most professionals work for only one employer, but there are also those who handle accounting for dozens of businesses at once.
According to the study, only a few dozen accountants in Ukraine handle more than 10 companies. The absolute record-holder was a specialist who was responsible for the accounting of 28 companies last year.
The 2025 financial statements of Ukrainian companies list 61,326 accountants. In total, they were responsible for filing reports for 75,078 enterprises, meaning that, on average, one accountant worked with 1.2 companies. According to analysts, this figure has remained virtually unchanged for the fifth consecutive year.
The study showed that 85.5% of accountants work with only one company. Another 14% handle two to four companies. Only 250 accountants worked with five to nine companies, and just 29 specialists nationwide were responsible for the accounting of ten or more businesses.
An accountant from the Zaporizhzhia region served the most companies last year—28 businesses. Second place was shared by accountants from the Dnipropetrovsk and Zhytomyr regions, who each worked with 23 companies. Opendatabot notes that all of these professionals maintained the documentation for condominium owners’ associations (COAs). Third place went to an accountant from the Dnipropetrovsk region, who provided services to 22 public educational institutions.
At the same time, another accountant submitted the largest number of financial documents over the course of the year. Although he worked with only ten companies, the specialist prepared 183 financial reports over the course of the year. As analysts explain, a single company may submit several quarterly, annual, and amended reports throughout the year.
A gradual decline was also observed in the number of companies listing this accountant in their financial reports. While there were 80,700 such companies in 2022, that number had dropped to 75,000 by 2025. At the same time, the number of annual financial forms submitted decreased from 126,900 to 116,400.
“Traditionally, the largest number of accountants works in Kyiv—more than 13,000. Next are Dnipropetrovsk Oblast (5,800), Lviv Oblast (4,300), Kyiv Oblast (4,000), and Odesa Oblast (4,000),” the study states.
Analysts add that a single accountant may be counted in several regions if they were listed in the financial reports of companies from different regions.
