Uman Will Implement Special Traffic Restrictions During Rosh Hashanah
Special restrictions on entry, exit, and movement within the city will soon be in effect in Uman in connection with the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah. The restrictions will apply to the pilgrimage district. A number of additional prohibitions will also be introduced there, including bans on the sale of alcoholic beverages and sharp or cutting objects.
When will the special regulations be in effect?
Special regulations governing entry, exit, and movement within Uman in connection with the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah will be in effect:
from Friday, September 4;
through Thursday, September 17.
“Just as in previous years,” Taburets clarified.
Where in the city will vehicle entry be prohibited?
According to the head of the Cherkasy Regional State Administration, vehicle entry will be prohibited:
from Highway M-30 to Uman—onto Derevianka Street (near the “Standard Budivelny” LLC facility);
from the M-30 highway to Uman—onto Gorikhova Street;
from the village of Rodnikovka to Uman—onto Pavlova Street.
Where Checkpoints Will Be Strengthened
Meanwhile, enhanced checkpoint controls are planned:
from the M-30 highway onto Derevyanka Street;
from the M-05 highway onto Yednannia Street;
from the village of Horodetske in the Palanska Territorial Community (TC) — to the intersection of Horodetska Street and Maksym Zaliznyak Street;
from the M-30 highway to Mykhailivska Street;
from the M-30 to Vokzalna Street;
from the village of Rodnykivka in the Palanska TG to Kyivska Street.
Separately, traffic from the M-05 “Kyiv–Odesa” highway to Uman, on Vyzvolyteliv Street, will be permitted only for Hasidic pilgrims.
What other restrictions are being implemented in the city
Taburets also announced that in the pilgrimage district, the sale of the following will be prohibited:
alcoholic beverages;
fireworks and pyrotechnics;
knives and other sharp or cutting objects;
air guns and toys that imitate them.
“I ask everyone—local residents and visitors alike—to take these restrictions into account in advance and plan their routes accordingly. All of these measures are for safety,” concluded the head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration.

Ukraine is stepping up security ahead of the arrival of Hasidic Jews for Rosh Hashanah.
On September 11–13, Uman is expecting pilgrims to arrive for the Rosh Hashanah celebrations. Local authorities are already coordinating security measures, medical support, and transportation, taking into account the conditions of martial law.
On July 29, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine urged Hasidic pilgrims to take security risks into account when traveling to Uman for the Rosh Hashanah celebrations. The ministry emphasized that due to Russia’s ongoing massive missile strikes on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure, it is impossible to guarantee the complete safety of foreign citizens on Ukrainian territory.
