The High Anti-Corruption Court ordered that People's Deputy Serhiy Kuzminykh be brought to the court hearing by force
The High Anti-Corruption Court issued a summons for People’s Deputy Serhiy Kuzminykh to appear at a court hearing. The deputy is to be forcibly brought to one of the district courts in Zhytomyr.
The court granted the motion filed by the prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office to have the MP brought before one of the district courts in Zhytomyr.
Kuzminykh is to participate in the High Anti-Corruption Court hearing via videoconference or using appropriate technical means. The hearing has currently been adjourned to allow for the implementation of the court’s order.
This concerns Case No. 991/4071/22.
According to the Anti-Corruption Action Center, the hearing in the Kuzminykh case was scheduled to last the entire day; however, the MP and his defense attorney did not appear in court. The reason for Kuzminykh’s absence was his hospitalization the day before, as confirmed by a prosecutor from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
At the same time, the prosecutor did not consider this reason valid and asked the court to issue a subpoena for Kuzminykh to appear in court in Zhytomyr or to ensure his participation in the hearing via videoconference. However, the subpoena will not be enforced if it could worsen Kuzminykh’s condition.
The Anti-Corruption Center notes that the lawmaker has previously failed to appear at court hearings. Specifically, on June 22, he did not appear due to a trip to Spain; on October 29, 2025, due to a meeting of the parliamentary committee on national health; and on March 30, 2026, due to a business trip to Lithuania. The hearing on June 1 also did not take place because the lawmaker was on sick leave.
The Central Anti-Corruption Bureau emphasized that the statute of limitations in the case expires in January 2027. As a reminder, in January 2022, Serhiy Kuzminykh was caught receiving 558,000 UAH in illicit benefits. According to investigators, the lawmaker received these funds in exchange for helping a company win tenders for the procurement of medical equipment.
