The High Anti-Corruption Court sentenced the former head of the Zaporizhzhia Civil Project Institute to 7.5 years in prison

The High Anti-Corruption Panel of Judges has handed down a verdict against the former acting director of the state-owned enterprise "State Design Institute 'Zaporizhcivilproekt'."

The former official was found guilty of organizing an attempt to embezzle state property as part of a criminal group.

The investigation, conducted jointly by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), proved the director’s guilt in attempting to illegally dispose of the enterprise’s assets. According to the case file, the defendant attempted to misappropriate property belonging to the institution worth over 18.8 million hryvnias.

The court upheld the classification of the offenses under the articles on attempted misappropriation of property and official forgery.

The panel of judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court sentenced the offender to 7 years and 6 months in prison.

In addition, the convicted person was barred from holding organizational and managerial positions for 3 years, and the court ordered the confiscation of all his property.

At the same time, he was acquitted of the charge of official forgery due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.

A distinctive feature of this trial was that the defendant had been evading responsibility for a long time. Currently, the convicted person is hiding from justice at an unknown location.

As a result, the trial was conducted in a special “in absentia” proceeding, meaning in the absence of the defendant.

This was reported by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
