Video: An incident involving a TCC representative and a child in Odesa is now under investigation
An internal investigation has been launched in Odesa following a conflict between a service member and a teenager, a video of which was shared on social media on August 18.
The military’s response was
prompted by a video circulating online. The footage shows a scuffle involving a minor boy and a man in military uniform.
After the footage was made public, the leadership of the Odesa Regional Military Enlistment and Training Center launched an internal investigation. Currently, authorities are clarifying all the circumstances of the incident and the reasons behind the conflict, as well as identifying the individuals seen in the video.
The Military Registration and Enlistment Office emphasized that it takes a firm stance against any violations committed by military personnel.
“Any acts of violence, abuse of authority, or inappropriate behavior toward citizens are unacceptable. If the guilt and involvement of military personnel in the offense are confirmed, those responsible will be held accountable in accordance with the current legislation of Ukraine,” the agency stated.
The TCC also called on the public and the media to “refrain from jumping to conclusions” and not to disseminate unverified information until the investigation is officially concluded.
This was stated in a press release from the Odesa Regional Military Registration and Enlistment Office and the Special Forces.
As a reminder, during Operation “Honest Draft,” law enforcement officers uncovered illegal activities by two recruitment groups from the Kyiv District Military Registration and Enlistment Office and the Odesa Special Forces. Ten military personnel were notified of their status as suspects.
Earlier, law enforcement authorities detained the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Registration and Enlistment Office on suspicion of receiving illicit benefits totaling 15,000 U.S. dollars. According to the investigation, the official was caught in the act of receiving $10,000 for failing to take mobilization measures against three conscripts, removing them from the “Oberig” system’s wanted list, and ensuring conditions for their continued employment at their place of work.
In Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, a senior lieutenant—the deputy commander of a company at one of the district military registration and enlistment offices—was detained on suspicion of assaulting a subordinate soldier. The man was intoxicated at the time.
