Video: A retiree set himself on fire at a bank branch in Kropyvnytskyi
On June 30, an incident occurred at a bank branch in Kropyvnytskyi, where a pensioner set himself on fire in protest. The circumstances of the incident are being investigated, and relevant authorities are on the scene.
Oksana Kovtunenko, a spokesperson for the regional police, told “Suspilne” about this. According to preliminary information, the man, born in 1945, got into a dispute while inside the bank branch over a disagreement regarding a cash payment. The pensioner doused himself with a flammable substance and set himself on fire.
“As a result of the incident, the man suffered burns. The full circumstances of the incident are being investigated,” said Kovtunenko.
Alona Shmatkova-Kopotiy, a representative of the Emergency Medical Center, clarified that medical personnel received two calls from the scene. The first was from the police.
“An 81-year-old man with facial burns refused hospitalization after being examined by medical personnel and receiving treatment. He was left at the scene under police supervision. At 11:14 a.m., a second call came in,” she said.
An ambulance crew arrived at the scene. The man again refused to go to the hospital and remained under police supervision, according to “Suspilne.”
As a reminder, the SBU detained a woman suspected of working for Russian intelligence services.
