Heavy rain flooded roads in western Ukraine
Heavy rain hit the Rivne and Ternopil regions, causing roads to flood and creating traffic problems. In the Kremenets community, two children nearly drowned in a fast-moving current but were rescued in time by adults.
Due to the severe weather, the Ternopil–Kremenets highway was completely closed, and traffic on the Kyiv–Chop international highway had to be partially restricted. Rescue workers, police, and road crews are on the scene.
Heavy rains that swept through the western regions of Ukraine have led to widespread flooding. The most difficult situation has developed in the Rivne and Ternopil regions, where water has flooded roads, disrupted traffic, and created dangerous conditions for local residents. A particularly dangerous incident occurred in the village of Horynka in the Kremenets community in the Ternopil region.
According to eyewitnesses, after a heavy downpour, the water level rose in a matter of minutes. At that moment, several children entered the water, but a strong current began to sweep two of them away. Fortunately, adults and older schoolchildren were nearby. They quickly rushed to help and managed to pull the children out of the water.
After the rescue, the children received the necessary medical care. According to preliminary information, their lives are not in danger. Due to the effects of the severe weather, traffic on the M-19 Ternopil–Kremenets highway in the Ternopil region has been completely blocked. Rescue workers, police, and local officials are on the scene. They are addressing the flooding and ensuring the safety of drivers.
A difficult situation is also unfolding in the Rivne region. There, heavy rainfall has flooded a section of the M-06 Kyiv–Chop international highway near the village of Varkovychi in the Dubno district. Traffic is hampered by the large amount of water. Patrol officers have organized alternating traffic and are manually directing the flow of vehicles to prevent traffic jams and accidents.
Law enforcement officials are urging drivers to be as careful as possible behind the wheel, reduce their speed, maintain a safe following distance, and not ignore the signals of traffic controllers. Local communities continue to monitor the situation, as water levels could rise sharply again in the event of further heavy rainfall. Rescue workers are also urging residents not to approach raging streams, not to cross flooded areas, and to keep a particularly close eye on children during bad weather. This information comes from eyewitnesses on social media and the press service of the Rivne Region Patrol Police.
Heavy rainfall in the Rivne region has caused flooding on a section of the M-06 Kyiv–Chop international highway near the village of Varkovychi. This has resulted in a traffic jam stretching for several kilometers, and police were forced to implement alternating traffic flow.
