Video: Teenagers in Zhytomyr are robbing stores and attacking people
In Zhytomyr, the Kroshnya neighborhood and surrounding areas have been plagued by a series of attacks which, according to police, are being carried out by a group of five teenagers, including three brothers. They are already responsible for at least five reported incidents, including robberies of stores and assaults on people.

One of the first brazen attacks took place at a grocery store during the day. According to eyewitness Ms. Iryna, the teenagers acted instantly: while some grabbed goods, others shouted insults. However, a simple theft was not enough for them.
“One boy ran in quickly and just sprayed us with pepper spray, along with the saleswoman,” says Ms. Irina.
In addition to the canister, one of the attackers was seen holding skewers, which he waved in front of the women. As a result of the attack, the saleswoman had to seek medical help. Later, the gang moved on to “bigger things.” Surveillance cameras captured the teenagers smashing a window at a motorcycle shop with a rock at 3 a.m. Their target was a vehicle, but a lack of physical strength prevented them from taking it.
“They tried to take the vehicle out, but couldn’t pull it through the broken window. Then they started turning over the display cases looking for money,” says store employee Andriy.
Finding no cash, the teenagers grabbed two helmets worth over eight thousand hryvnias. The gang carried out the entire operation in three minutes, fleeing just before security arrived. The police identified the attackers: five teenagers—three brothers and two of their accomplices. It turned out that the parents of these children had already been held accountable multiple times under Article 184 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (failure to fulfill parental duties).
The situation has now become critical, and law enforcement is considering radical measures. A pre-trial investigation into the robberies and thefts is ongoing. The issue of removing the children from their families is being addressed. Penalties for the parents may be reviewed and increased.
Although the raids have stopped for the duration of the investigation, Zhytomyr residents admit that their sense of security has vanished. Victims say they now react with fear to any children’s voices near stores, constantly looking around for a possible threat.
