The military ombudswoman spoke about schemes involving fictitious front lines

There have been instances in Ukraine where entire military units were officially listed as being on the front lines, even though they were actually stationed in rear areas.

This was reported by Military Ombudswoman Olga Kobylinska (Reshetilova) in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

In exchange for such “services,” military personnel handed over their pay to their immediate superiors.

According to the official, such actions constitute a gross violation of the law and fall under the category of criminal offenses.

The Ombudsman’s Office responds promptly to such cases, forwarding the collected data to law enforcement agencies for further investigation.

“We have such information; this is a criminal offense, and we forward such information to law enforcement agencies. Yes, unfortunately, there were entire units that abused this use of combat resources. But I know that both the General Staff and law enforcement are fighting this,” Kobylinska emphasized.

The military ombudswoman emphasized that everyone who joins the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine must be aware of their responsibilities.

One’s place of service or current specialization does not exempt one from the need to be prepared to carry out tasks directly in the combat zone.

“If you serve in the military, no matter what task you’re performing, you must be ready to carry out missions in the combat zone. And that doesn’t mean automatic death or injury—absolutely not,” she noted.

Olga Kobylinska noted that while the risks of death, injury, or capture exist, they can be significantly minimized.

The key to safety lies in high-quality training, professional instruction, and the psychological resilience of new soldiers, who are briefed on their rights and the structure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“The better the training, the less significant these risks will be. Furthermore, this risk for military personnel is relevant throughout Ukraine and, as we understand, even beyond its borders, since our contingents are currently deployed in the Middle East,” the ombudswoman explained.

As a reminder, a scheme involving fake medical certificates for travel abroad was uncovered in the Ternopil region.

A new scheme for the illegal departure of conscripts was also uncovered in Kyiv.
