It took the Supreme Court three months after the court’s ruling to remove Judge Saltan from office
The High Council of Justice has officially removed Lyudmyla Saltan from her position as a judge of the Kyiv District Court of Odesa for committing a serious disciplinary offense that is entirely incompatible with the status of a judge.
The decision was made based on a preliminary verdict by the High Anti-Corruption Court, which found the defendant guilty of corruption.
The judicial governance body stated that the former official’s conduct had irrevocably undermined the authority of the judiciary and public trust in the judicial branch.
The High Council of Justice’s fateful decision was preceded by a lengthy legal process, which concluded in March of this year with a guilty verdict by a panel of judges at the High Anti-Corruption Court.
The Anti-Corruption Court sentenced Lyudmyla Saltan to six years in prison and barred her from holding any public office for a period of three years.
In addition, the court’s verdict provides for the partial confiscation of the convicted person’s property, as recorded in the official materials of the criminal proceedings.
The confiscation of property includes the former judge’s high-value assets, which she listed in her asset declaration.
Specifically, the state will seize a private residential house with an area of 451.4 square meters, located in the Odesa region, as well as a luxury Audi Q8 vehicle.
Currently, the property is under seizure to ensure full enforcement of the court’s verdict.
