Russia is behind the explosion of a Ukrainian drone in a Romanian port, says the Navy

The unmanned naval vessel that exploded in the Romanian port of Constanța belonged to the Ukrainian Navy. The incident was caused by Russian electronic warfare systems.

According to official reports, while performing combat missions in the Black Sea operational zone, one of the Ukrainian naval drones lost control.

“While performing tasks in the Black Sea operational zone, one of the Ukrainian Navy’s unmanned surface vessels lost control under the influence of enemy electronic warfare systems and ended up off the coast of Romania,” the Ukrainian Navy reported.

The military emphasized that after losing control of the vessel, the Ukrainian side promptly provided all necessary information to the Romanian military.

Ukraine provided the Romanian Navy with data on the unmanned boat to minimize risks to the civilian population and prevent possible consequences of the incident.

The explosion of the maritime drone occurred near the Romanian port of Constanta, which is one of the largest transport and logistics hubs on the Black Sea coast.

According to the Ukrainian side, the unmanned boat ended up off the coast of Romania precisely because it lost control due to the effects of Russian electronic warfare systems.

Currently, the relevant services of Ukraine and Romania are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident.

The Ukrainian Navy emphasized that it had informed its Romanian partners of the situation in advance, which allowed for a prompt response to the potential threat.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Navy.

Romanian President Nicușor Dan stated that incidents involving drones and other similar occurrences on the country’s territory are a direct consequence of the full-scale war that Russia is waging against Ukraine. He made these remarks in response to the explosion of an unmanned boat in the port of Constanța and the recent crash of a Russian drone onto a residential building in Galați. According to the head of state, events of this nature demonstrate that the consequences of the war extend beyond Ukraine’s borders and affect the security situation in the region.
