The hearing in the Faryon murder case in Lviv has been postponed for the fourth time

On September 16, the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Lviv postponed the hearing in the case of the murder of linguist and civic activist Iryna Farion for the fourth time. The hearing was postponed due to the absence of Diana Kary, the attorney for the defendant, Vyacheslav Zinchenko.

The defense attorney filed a motion to postpone the hearing, citing failure to comply with the three-day notice period for court summonses and her participation in questioning as part of another proceeding. At the same time, the panel of judges refused to admit Zinchenko’s other attorney, Larisa Kryvoruchko, because her license to practice law has been suspended.

The victim’s representative and the prosecutor characterized the defense’s procedural conduct as an “abuse of procedural rights.” The panel of judges adjourned the hearing until September 17.

The Uzhhorod City and District Court ruled that statements made by Oleksiy Fazekosh, chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional Bar Association, regarding attorney Larisa Kryvoruchko—who had previously defended the defendant accused of murdering Iryna Farion—were unfounded.

On the second anniversary of the death of linguist and People’s Deputy of the 7th convocation Iryna Farion, her daughter Sofia Osoba published a poignant video message. She shared family memories, spoke about a family tradition, and expressed words of love and gratitude to her mother.

As a reminder, the defendant accused of Farion’s murder will be assigned a public defender.
