The deputy head of the Khmelnytskyi Regional State Administration has been notified of his status as a suspect in a bribery case

The Security Service of Ukraine and the Office of the Prosecutor General reported that the deputy head of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Military Administration had been implicated in a case involving the alleged receipt of illicit benefits for awarding contracts for the repair of interregional highways.

According to the investigation, the official received “kickbacks” amounting to 5% of the total contract value. In exchange for these funds, law enforcement officials allege, he guaranteed the road construction company that the contract would be signed and that budget funds would be allocated for the work.

The SBU stated that the head of the regional Local Roads Service was also involved in the scheme. Law enforcement officials documented the official’s negotiations with a contractor regarding an illegal benefit of 1.1 million hryvnias and the phased transfer of part of this amount during June of this year.

The issue of imposing preventive measures on them is currently being decided. The SBU noted that the suspects face up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.

According to sources at “Ukrainska Pravda” within law enforcement agencies, the case involves Vladislav Falyush. Authorities are also investigating the possible involvement of one of the heads of the region’s law enforcement agency and other representatives of local government bodies.
