An employee of the Bila Tserkva Territorial Recruitment Center who blackmailed a soldier’s mother has been arrested

Law enforcement officers detained a 32-year-old employee of the Bila Tserkva District Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support who demanded $5,000 from a soldier’s mother. The perpetrator psychologically pressured the woman, threatening to immediately send her son to an assault unit on the front lines if she refused to pay. 

The soldier was detained while receiving the first installment of the bribe, amounting to $1,000, and was placed in a temporary detention facility. 

In exchange for the money, he promised to influence other officials to ensure the man’s service in a safe military unit in the rear. Investigators from the Kyiv Region Police Investigation Department, under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, notified the detainee of his suspicion under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. A pre-trial investigation is currently underway, and law enforcement officials are identifying other individuals who may be involved in this illegal activity.
