Zelenskyy announced new positions for Umerov and Klymenko

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he plans to appoint Ihor Klymenko as Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine next week, while Rustem Umerov will focus on working with international partners in the field of security.

According to the head of state, Umerov will be responsible for developing cooperation with partners, negotiations, coordination between intelligence agencies, as well as the implementation of the Drone Deals program and the Freya anti-ballistic program. Separately, he will work with partners in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf countries.

Zelenskyy also stated that under Klymenko’s leadership, the National Security and Defense Council will strengthen coordination between defense and security agencies and will focus on countering cyber threats and the activities of criminal networks.

The president has instructed officials to draft the relevant decrees, which he plans to sign after his scheduled trip to the United States.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed laws extending martial law and general mobilization for another 90 days. The new term begins on August 2, so both measures will remain in effect at least until October 31, 2026.

At least six people were killed and dozens more were injured as a result of a Russian ballistic missile strike on the Kyiv region. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on the consequences of the attack and the cleanup efforts following the shelling.
