Syrsky announced the transfer of authority to the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Drapaty
A ceremony to transfer authority to the new military leadership took place at the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was announced by former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.
Acting Minister of Defense of Ukraine Yevhen Khmara introduced the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major General Mykhailo Drapaty, and the new Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major General Ihor Skybyuk, to the General Staff’s leadership.
During the event, Syrskyi officially transferred the powers of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to Mykhailo Drapaty.
“A new phase lies ahead. I wish the new military leadership strength, resilience, wise decisions, unity with the troops, and victories,” Syrskyi wrote.
He also expressed his hope that the new command’s decisions would bring Ukraine closer to peace, and that its orders would help save the lives of Ukrainian soldiers and inflict losses on Russian troops.
This was announced on July 24 by former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.
As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that next week he plans to appoint Ihor Klymenko as Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, while Rustem Umerov will focus on working with international partners in the field of security.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed laws extending martial law and general mobilization for another 90 days. The new term begins on August 2, so both measures will remain in effect at least until October 31, 2026.
