In Ukraine, YouTube has blocked the channels of Russian artists who support the war against Ukraine

YouTube has restricted access within Ukraine to the channels of a number of Russian artists who are subject to sanctions imposed by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

Specifically, access has been restricted to the channels of Nikolai Baskov, Olga Buzova, Lolita Milyavskaya, Stas Mikhailov, Ani Lorak, Anna Sedokova, and Alexander Rosenbaum.

The Center for Digital Policy noted that all of them publicly support Russian aggression against Ukraine, participate in propaganda activities, and use their own media platforms to spread Russian narratives.

The Center emphasized that it will continue its efforts to shut down the pages of sanctioned individuals and centers of hostile propaganda in the digital space.

Earlier, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine imposed sanctions against a number of Russian artists who supported Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

This was reported on July 24 by the Center for Countering Disinformation under the NSDC.

It is worth noting that despite attempts by Russian authorities to restrict access to YouTube and steer users toward local video services, the American platform remains popular among millions of people in Russia. In recent months, its audience has even grown, while Russian alternatives have failed to achieve the same results.

Russian singer and supporter of the Putin regime Nikolai Baskov became the subject of ridicule after his post on the social network Threads. The response from the official “Ukrzaliznytsia” account attracted the most attention.
