Zelenskyy Announced a New Defense Strategy for Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine is preparing an updated defense strategy. According to him, the main priorities will be protecting Ukraine’s airspace, improving mobilization, developing the corps system, and equipping the military with drones and necessary equipment.

Following the appointment of Mykhailo Drapaty as the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the development of a new defense strategy for Ukraine. Military leadership and commanders will work on the document, and its main goal will be to strengthen the Ukrainian army and improve the effectiveness of the country’s defense.

According to the president, the new Commander-in-Chief Mykhailo Drapatyi, Yevhen Khmara, and other commanders of the Defense Forces will join the effort to develop the updated strategy. Once finalized, the document is scheduled to be officially approved.

The Top Priority Is Protecting the Skies

Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that one of the most important tasks right now is to provide maximum protection for Ukrainian airspace against Russian attacks. The president noted that this area will be central to the new defense strategy.

“Closing off the skies as much as possible from Russian strikes and providing a clear vision for the mobilization process—that is the priority,” Zelenskyy stated. He also emphasized that the government will continue reforming the Ukrainian army, taking into account the lessons learned from the war and the needs of troops on the front lines.

More Drones and Modern Equipment

The new plan will place special emphasis on supplying the Ukrainian military. According to the president, commanders have already reported on the most urgent needs of their units, and these requests must be met.

This primarily involves supplying more drones, modern equipment, and other weapons necessary for carrying out combat missions. The president stressed that the military’s supply needs must correspond to the actual situation on the front lines.

Changes will also affect mobilization

Another important area will be improving the mobilization process. According to Zelenskyy, it is necessary to develop a clear and effective vision of how the mobilization system should function in the context of a full-scale war.

In addition, the updated strategy will provide for the further development of the corps system within the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The President also emphasized that reforms in the army will continue, and decisions will be made taking into account the proposals of combat commanders.

Thus, the new defense strategy is intended to cover several key areas at once: strengthening air defense, developing the corps system, improving mobilization, increasing the supply of drones and modern equipment, and addressing the practical needs of Ukrainian troops on the front lines. The head of state announced this on his Telegram channel.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed Major General Mykhailo Drapaty, commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, replacing Oleksandr Syrskyi
