Zelenskyy Instructed Diplomats to Step Up Dialogue with China
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on Ukrainian diplomats to step up efforts to develop relations with China in order to prevent Beijing from fully supporting Russia in the war.
The head of state made this statement during a meeting with ambassadors held in Kyiv on August 3. According to Zelenskyy, establishing a dialogue with China is a key priority for protecting Ukraine’s national interests and curbing Russian influence.
“We need to seek dialogue with China if we don’t want China to fully support the Russians. If China is thinking about a future with Russia and doesn’t see other countries in that picture, we need to build those relationships,” the president emphasized.
He instructed Ukrainian diplomats to work more actively on developing contacts with the People’s Republic of China.

Ukraine will make every effort to force Russia to end the war before the start of winter 2026. To this end, Kyiv will continue to intensify diplomatic and sanctions pressure on the aggressor in cooperation with international partners.
