Stefanyishyna explained her resignation as Ukraine's ambassador to the U.S.
Olga Stefanishyna stated that the decision to step down from her post as Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States was her own initiative. She noted that she herself had decided to resign from her diplomatic post.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree dismissing Stefanishyna from her post as Ukraine’s ambassador to the U.S. She emphasized that this step was taken by her personally. “This
is my own decision, dictated by personal circumstances that were mentioned earlier. Representing Ukraine in Washington at a time when it is fighting for its very existence was the greatest honor of my life. Just as it was an honor to pave the way for Ukraine’s accession to the European Union as Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, and to advance reforms in the justice sector as Minister of Justice. “I am grateful to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for this trust and these opportunities. I count on his understanding and support for this decision,” the statement reads.

According to Stefanishyna, she made this decision on her own, especially since the main points of the plan she arrived with have already been fulfilled. At the same time, she highlighted three key achievements.
“We increased the supply of American weapons and maintained support precisely when the political climate in Washington was shifting against us. We have enshrined this support in laws that will outlast any change in administration. And, most importantly, we have transformed Ukraine’s very role: from a country that receives aid to a country in which investments are made and whose technologies are purchased,” the former ambassador emphasized.

Stefanyishyna added: “What our team has accomplished is enshrined in law and in the very nature of the relationship between our countries; therefore, it does not depend on who holds office—the only thing left is to work on further strengthening our positions. As for the questions that have been circulating in the media recently, I will comment on them separately and publicly in the near future.”

Zelenskyy dismissed Stefanishyna from her post as Ukraine’s ambassador to the U.S.
We previously reported that Stefanishyna denied rumors of her resignation as ambassador to the U.S.
At the same time, the media continue to discuss potential candidates for her position, including Rustem Umerov and Yulia Svyrydenko. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy personally confirmed that he had offered Yulia Svyrydenko the position of Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States. However, she declined the offer.
