Zelenskyy and the Italian Foreign Minister discussed global threats posed by the war with Iran
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani. The key topic of the talks was the impact of Iran’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, which poses serious challenges for global fuel, gas, and fertilizer markets.

Zelenskyy offered Ukraine’s expertise to partners in the region to jointly counter these threats, a proposal that received a positive response from the Italian side.
The politicians paid special attention to combating the disinformation that Russia spreads on international platforms to justify its aggression. Zelenskyy and Tajani agreed to coordinate the positions of working groups to more effectively counter Russian propaganda in Europe and the world. The parties emphasized the importance of a united information front in the context of hybrid warfare.
The meeting confirmed the high level of strategic partnership between Kyiv and Rome. In addition to energy and information security, further steps were discussed to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities and to secure the Italian government’s support for Ukrainian initiatives at the EU level. Currently, teams from both countries are preparing a detailed plan to implement the agreements reached.
